The {LOVE} of Mothers
On this day of celebration I want to say:
Thank you Mom. We are so thankful for all of the stuff you did around here and that you made it possible for Mark and I to sit around and stare in amazement at our new son.
I still need my Mom.
After Rocco was born she arrived to cook, clean and care for Mark and I – as we took care of Rocco. Mark and I decided that it takes at least 3 people (ideally) to make this whole baby thing happen. Thank you Mom. We are so thankful for all of the stuff you did around here and that you made it possible for Mark and I to sit around and stare in amazement at our new son.
Happy Mother’s Day Mom (aka: Mim) !!!

Rocco: The Mystery Revealed
I was able to catch up with Rocco for an exclusive first interview. He was gracious enough to answer a few questions for my curious readers. Everyone wants to know:
“Who is he?”
“Would he vote for Donald Trump, should he run for President in 1212?”
“Just how amazing is it to have Mark and Janae for parents?”
Rocco: “I have 2 actually, sleeping and eating. I often try to do them at the same time but my mom insists I do one then the other.”
Janae: “Interesting. What is the biggest challenge in your life right now?”
Rocco: “Great question Janae. Getting my eyes open has proven more difficult than I would have thought. The focus it takes, the drive, the perseverance.”
Rocco: “I can’t be certain yet. They are still grey. Hopefully I’ll be able to tell you soon.”
Janae: “Well, we can’t wait to know, keep us posted. Rocco, are you smiling yet?”
Rocco: “My parents like to think so. They feel pretty good when my facial muscles make it look like a smile. I haven’t had the heart to tell them it isn’t controllable yet.
Janae: “Thanks for your time Rocco. Is there anything else you’d like to tell my readers?”
Rocco: “Yes, don’t forget the value of a good stretch and yawn.

Janae: “Has your eye-opening regime been working for you?”
Rocco: “Oh, definitely. As you can see once I open them I can keep them open for at least 5-10 minutes.”
Janae: “Wow.”
Janae: “Now, what color are your eyes exactly?”Rocco: “I can’t be certain yet. They are still grey. Hopefully I’ll be able to tell you soon.”

Rocco’s First Outing
For the first 10 days of his life Rocco’s been wearing sleep sacks and lounging around like this.
Yesterday was his first trip out of the house and he wore his first outfit (Thanks Merzi!)
Where did you go, you ask? Well … Starbucks of course.

We had treats to deliver -- yummy cinnamon rolls in celebration of Rocco. (Thanks Mom!)
And of course all of my co-workers were DYING to get a glimpse of the little one they have been working alongside of all of these months.
After that we headed over to the birth center to deliver more cinnamon rolls and coffee.
At the entrance we located Rocco’s birth announcement on the chalk board celebrating each new life born at the birth center.
Upon returning home Rocco passed out in exhaustion.

Rocco’s First Manicure
Rocco came out of the womb with long fingers and sharp nails. For the first few days we were dodging them, covering them up, and trying to keep him from scratching up his face.
Check out the digits on this kid! Notice the looooong nails and scratched up face … poor buddy!
So Manicurist Mark swooped in to the rescue.
