Ode to My Broom

The brooms in Korea are all quite small.  The handle does not even reach my waist.  My broom is the ‘normal’ Korean size, though I see many that are even shorter!  Sweeping is a task you do hunched or bending over, there is no other way around it.  

Ode To My Broom

My short bristled friend 

With handle not so long

I know that in the end

You’ll still move dirt along

My back will shout a complaint

My arms will want for length

My knuckles will barely miss the ground

But a rosy picture I still paint

For although it takes more of my strength

I am assured all dirt will be found
